RULES AND REGULATIONS
1. All rules in the Provincial Syllabus apply unless modified or expanded by a local rule.
2. All classes are competitive or non-competitive.  Entrants are asked to clearly indicate their preference on the entry form. (Non-competitive participants receive an adjudication but no mark.)
3. For competitive classes marks may be announced at the discretion of the adjudicator.
4. For music entries (piano, vocal, choral) Xeroxed copies are permitted only with publisher's consent. For Speech Arts, AMAF has been able to purchase a licence which allows photocopies.
5. Eligibility for Solo Awards/trophies/scholarships
a) Speech Arts and Vocal Classes – TWO SELECTIONS, one of which must be a PIECE from the REPERTOIRE/RESOURCE LIST, must be performed  competitively and a mark of 80% must be attained. (Exception: vocal ages 6 and under.  See (b) below.)
b) Vocal ages 6 and under: As there are no pieces listed on the repertoire/Resource lists, participants may be eligible for awards if they enter two own choice solo selections competitively and attain a mark of 80%.
c) Piano Classes -  TWO SELECTIONS, one of which must be from a class listed as on the Piano Addendum, must be performed competitively and a mark of 80% attained.(These are equivalent to the former “test piece” classes.)  New in 2010:  The AMAF Piano Repertoire/Resource used in 2009 was not found to helpful for our participants and so is not a part of the piano addenda this year.  Sight reading is no longer required for award eligibility.
6. Adult entries are welcome. They will be listed separately in the program so that adults and children/youth are not competing against each other.
7. Copies of selections for the adjudicator:  Music participants (piano, vocal, choral) must supply copies from their respective Repertoire/Resource Lists and Own Choice selections for the adjudicator. Speech Arts participants must supply copies of Own Choice selections.
8. Vocal -See Rule of Transposition in the Provincial Syllabus.
9. Chamber Group – is now defined as a minimum of 3 performers.
10. The Deloraine Border Festival, may, at its discretion, create a class in any discipline where an entry warrants.
11. The Deloraine Border Festival may, at its discretion, cancel a class where enough entries are not received to justify the hiring of an adjudicator.
12. All performers, if called upon, should be prepared to perform at the HI-Lites Concert.
13. ALL AWARDS/SCHOLARSHIP/TROPHY RECIPIENTS ARE CHOSEN BY THE ADJUDICATORS.
14. The following classes cannot be offered this year: piano duos, harpsichord, theatre arts (film and video), speech arts (debating), bands and instrumentals.

Complaints/Concerns: must be made in writing to the festival secretary

Complaints/concerns: Please do not approach the adjudicator with these.  A written complaint or concern should be forwarded to the festival secretary.
